ISDN PRI Service Description

ISDN-PRI (Integrated Services Digital Network-Primary Rate Interface) service keeps you connected at up to 128 Kbps - more than twice as fast as a 56 Kbps modem. Up to eight lines of voice, video or data can simultaneously transmit over a single ISDN-PRI line. Spend more time communicating with your clients and less time retrieving e-mail and downloading information. ISDN lines are digital and virtually error-free for fast reliable connections.

AT&T's PrimePlex and PrimeConnect ISDN PRI local service

Available in select cities nationally, AT&T's Prime services provide an efficient way to integrate your local voice, data and video communications on the same high-performance digital trunks using industry-standard ISDN Primary Rate Interface technology. This all-digital service connects your digital PBX (or other digital premises equipment) directly to the AT&T Network over ISDN-configured T1 facilities that you can use for virtually any combination of voice, video, or switched data transmissions. There is no need to designate certain channels for each type of transmission; your bandwidth is allocated automatically on a call-by-call basis.

AT&T's state-of-the-art ISDN PRI Local Services include:

PrimePlex, an ISDN PRI service designed for locations needing dependable connectivity for local and local toll calls, long distance and international voice, as well as video and switched data services. It supports inbound and outbound calling, as well as access to toll-free service.

PrimeConnect, a specialized ISDN-based PRI trunking solution, designed especially for applications and locations receiving very high volumes (200,000 to 400,000 minutes per month) of inbound-only traffic.

Verizon's CSDS ISDN Service

Circuit Switched Data Services (CSDS) ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) PRI is a local exchange access service that creates a direct digital connection to a Verizon central office to provide voice, data, image, and video services on a single circuit or line. Customers avoid the need for individual dedicated circuits for different applications.

CSDS ISDN PRI Primary Benefits

Control Costs. If a dedicated T1 is being underutilized, it may be cost effective to replace it with a PRI and route calls over the network rather than pay the entire cost of the T1.
